This enables it to be used in both cryogenic applications, such as in some liquefied gas storage systems, and in high - temperature environments like certain food - baking ovens. Physical Properties - Low Friction Coefficient: PTFE has an extremely low coefficient of friction, which means that when two surfaces with a PTFE gasket in between move relative to each other, the resistance to movement is minimal. This property is useful in applications where smooth movement or easy disassembly and assembly are required, such as in some mechanical seals of rotating equipment. - Good Compressibility: The material is compressible to a certain extent, allowing it to fill gaps and irregularities between mating surfaces effectively. When tightened, it can conform well to the shape of the surfaces, providing a reliable seal. Appearance and Structure - White Color: Usually, PTFE regular gaskets are white in color, which gives them a clean and identifiable appearance. - Sheet - like Structure: They often come in the form of sheets that can be cut into various shapes and sizes according to specific needs. The thickness of the sheets can vary, typically ranging from a few millimeters to more than a centimeter, depending on the requirements of the sealing application.
